Mountain News- A workshop held last Thursday, Nov. 20 was in response to an urgent need for homeowner insurance information - to help them recover from the devastating Southern California wildfires. The workshop was the fifth in a series and took place at the Lake Arrowhead Resort.

Shift to recovery
Press Enterprise- The blackened palm trees and house timbers have stopped smoldering and San Bernardino leaders have shifted into recovery mode to reassemble neighborhoods burned to rubble by the Old Fire. It's the latest hardship for a city scarred by such disasters as the Panorama Fire, the Harrison Canyon flood and the loss of hundreds of jobs when the Santa Fe railroad shops and headquarters closed and Norton Air Force Base - where hundreds of fire refugees found food and shelter - was decommissioned.

Rain soaks Inland foothills
The Press-Enterprise- A storm brought about an inch of rain to Inland foothill areas Wednesday, sparing hillsides denuded by fire from the worst, for now. The storm brought minor flooding, fender-benders, roof leaks and power outages elsewhere in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Shortly after the storm began Wednesday morning in the San Bernardino Mountains, a mudslide covered part of Highway 18 between Lake Gregory Drive and Rimforest, said CHP Officer Edward Escalera.

Looky-loos follow looters
The Press-Enterprise- Less than a week ago, Shannon Henyan expressed nothing but positive thoughts when discussing the ordeal that came with losing her home to the Old Fire. But that all changed earlier this week when her daughter returned from their Cedar Glen neighborhood. Angie Henyan, 37, reported seeing several hundreds of people rummaging through the charred remains of houses up and down Hook Creek Road, the area that suffered some of the worst damage on top of the San Bernardino Mountains in last month's Old Fire.
