From FireRecovery.com Fire Stories Dear Ranger Al and Son,
This is just one unique story out of 90,000 others. I just wanted to share and to Thank you, and I don't expect you to reply, only read this when you have time. J
My husband Jim is a native Californian, I'm English. We met in '99, Austria, at Calvary Chapel Bible College, he was staff and I was a student. We married in 2000, returning to live in CA just 6 weeks ago after spending all that time as full time missionaries in Europe (unpaid!). We took a month to get settled despite our unusual situation of being non-entities with no bank accounts, no driving licenses, no jobs, no job history to speak of, etc, etc and myself waiting for my Permanent Resident Card and Social Security number to arrive.
Finally, some really nice people decided to give us a break and rented us a house in the Lake Arrowhead Villas on Oct 18th. We spent the whole week buying new and used things for our house; basically we spent all the money we had left, Jim was due to start work on the 27th Oct. We moved everything up there that we owned, mostly what people had stored for Jim while he was in Europe.
We moved in on the morning of the 25th and spent a few hours unpacking only to leave again after midnight!! Needless to say we could only take a small portion of what we had spent all week buying / taking up there. And needless to mention that we were pretty devastated that we were going to loose all of that stuff - all we had - even if it was just stuff. (The home owner had Fire Insurance but we were not covered by it)
After a few days of being glued to the News Channels at our friends' house I became increasingly frustrated at their lack of detail, details that we really needed to know!! So I began looking on-line, I found www.fireupdate.com and breathed a sigh of relief. Your site, your work, dedication, energy, compassion, your attention to detail (much needed!), your understanding and relentless desire to search for and provide info that 90,000 others wanted so badly and were unable to do anything about is soooo much appreciated by Jim and I and the masses! Your fire updates surpasses the TV's one hundred fold. I don't know how to thank you enough without exalting you, I don't even know who you are, I can only pray that the Lord blesses you more than you have blessed us and that He comforts you more than your website has comforted us in our quest for knowledge about our material stuff! The good Lord has looked after us again. "He gives and takes away".
God bless you Ranger Al and Son
